At the Williamson Eye Institute, we take your privacy very seriously. We abide by the Federal HIPAA policy. A copy of our privacy policy is listed below.
Williamson Eye Institute Privacy Policy
The doctors and staff at Williamson Eye Institute/Indiana Eye Care and Advanced Surgery Center are dedicated to protecting your healthcare privacy in the following ways:
- We do not release patient information without written authorization from the patient, patient’s parent or guardian, or person to whom patient has given power of attorney for medical or financial decisions.
- When you first become our patient, you will be asked to sign consent forms authorizing us to provide your insurance company with the information they need to process your claims.
- If you would like a copy of your records forwarded to anyone other than your health insurance company you will be required to sign a “Request for Release of Information.”
- We do not use a billing service. Most of our claims are submitted electronically. Medicare and Medicaid claims go directly to those government agencies. Commercial insurance claims are submitted through our software vender, CompuLink, through a clearinghouse, Envoy. Both CompuLink and Envoy have stated their commitment to protect all information sent to them and to assure it goes only to the appropriate insurance company for processing.
If you have any suggestions to help us further, please ask to talk to our Privacy Officer.
